A 21-year-old Palestinian man died late Friday night of wounds he sustained earlier in the day by IDF gunfire near the Israel-Gaza border, Palestinian news agency Ma'an reported Saturday.
Palestinian medical sources said that an IDF gunshot hit the man in the pelvis and he was evacuated to the hospital in Rafah where he succumbed to his wounds, according to Ma'an.
IDF soldiers opened fire at a group of Palestinians attempting to damage the Gaza border fence on Friday, the IDF Spokesman's Office stated.
The IDF attempted to apprehend the suspects after they were witnessed damaging the fence and shot at their legs in the process.
Ma'an reported that 11 Palestinians were injured by IDF fire throughout the Strip on Friday.
Several incidents of this kind have occurred along the border since a cease-fire took hold between Hamas and Israel last week.
