A car was torched and racist graffiti was spray-painted on a wall in the
Palestinian village of Beit Umar early Tuesday morning, in what is being
investigated as a nationalistically motivated “price-tag” attack.
In the
early hours before sunrise Tuesday, the IDF received a call that a car was on
fire in the village, and some time later soldiers were sent to inspect the scene
– where they found the torched car and the nearby graffiti.
Pictures
posted online showed graffiti reading “A good Arab is a dead Arab” and “This
time it’s property, next time a life.”
There was also a spray-painted Star
of David and graffiti reading “Revenge, Yitzhar,” a reference to the West Bank
settlement where the IDF demolished a number of structures this past November
and in 2011.
On Tuesday the Judea and Samaria police district said it had
opened an investigation into the incident.
