American Football in Israel’s men’s flag football league completed its 25th
regular season and 32 teams now enter a playoff system for the coveted Holyland
Bowl title.
After 14 regular-season games, Big Blue came out on top of
the standings with 12 wins and two losses. Rounding out the top 10 were Derech
Etz Chaim, Segwayz, Catering Eitan, and Bagelsbergs (all at 11- 3), 48ers
(10-2-2), Chicago (10-3-1), Mevaseret (9-2-3), Packer West (10-4), and Dhani’s
Bowties (9-4-1).
The modified format to whittle the top 32 down to the
top 16. The Holyland Bowl bracket is played over three weeks and sees the top 32
play according to rankings in week one. Then in week 2 the teams that go 1-0 and
teams that go 0-1 play each other.
Those eight teams that go 2-0 move on
to the top 16 and those that go 1-1 play each other for the last eight
spots.
The remaining teams outside of the top 32 also play in a separate
bracket. Each playoff bracket culminates in a bowl game – the Holyland Bowl,
Moshiko Bowl, Jerusalem Sports Medicine Cup, Yitz Fink Medics Cup, Myra
H.
