Tangerine Dream, Gong and Caravan, three 1970s European progressive rock mainstays, will be bringing their electronic dreamscapes to Tel Aviv.
Tangerine Dream, the influential German outfit founded in 1967 by guitarist Edgar Froese, have had a lasting impact on musical genres ranging from Floydian space, new age, the Krautrock of Kraftwerk and Can, and modern-day DJ mixes and electronica. In addition, the band revolutionized film soundtracks in the 1980s (scoring over 30 including Risky Business, Firestarter and Vision Quest), introducing instrumental electronic music to the mainstream.
The band will be making its Israel debut on May 18 at Heichal Hatarbut in Tel Aviv.
Meanwhile, British space rockers Caravan will be returning to Tel Aviv for a show at Reading 3 on April 26 and 1970s Franco-British colleagues Gong will bring their mellotrons and synths to the same venue on July 2.
