Following several complaints of inappropriate treatment of witnesses on the stand, a Beersheba judge will retire early, Army Radio reports.

Less than two weeks ago, Judge Yeshayahu Tishler of the Beersheba Magistrate’s Court asked testifying witness Rebecca Levin if she was a whore in front of the entire courtroom, revealed a report aired on Sunday on Army Radio.

“Tell me, are you a whore? I just wanted to know,” Tishler asked her in front of her children.

Levin told Army Radio that she was extremely offended.

“It was like a meat market,” she said. “Would he have asked a man the same question?” Levin called for the Ombudsman of the Israeli Judiciary to remove Tishler immediately, saying that she doesn’t trust him and can’t even look him in the eyes, according to the report.

“Without a complaint filed with the Ombudsman of the Israeli Judiciary, we can’t deal with the heart of the matter,” the court responded in a written statement.

However, Army Radio reported that the Tishler had already signed off on early retirement as a result of other complaints against him. He will retire as soon as his current cases are wrapped up.
