Some NIS 16 million gathered in donations to soldiers serving in Operation Protective Edge
The Association for the Well-being of Israeli Soldiers (AWIS) announced that throughout Operation Protective Edge it had gathered and distributed some NIS 16 million to assist IDF soldiers.

Some NIS 2.5 million were donated from abroad through Friends of the Israel Defense Forces in the US and Panama, the Association for the Soldiers of Israel Canada, The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (IFCJ), the Associations for the Soldiers UK, The 'Yoter' Association, and the Association for the Soldiers Mexico.  In addition to the monetary donations, some 140,000 gift parcels with basic necessities amounting to some NIS 10 million were donated by the organization and the Israeli public.

Volunteers also contributed by visiting wounded soldiers in hospitals throughout the country, providing mobile cellphone charging stations in the field, and offering refreshments and snacks for the soldiers.

"This immediate mobilization of the Israeli and foreign public for the soldiers truly warms my heart. We continue to raise funds for the soldiers who participated in the operation in order to keep helping them in different ways when it will all be over," said Avigdor Kahalani, chairman of AWIS.
