Syrian Deputy Prime Minister Qadri Jamil on Sunday said that
Israel is taking advantage of the continued bloodshed in Syria.
Jamil told the Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Manar news agency in a telephone interview that Israel takes advantage of the
continued fighting and bloodshed in Syria, referring to the alleged Israeli
attack on a Syrian military research center in Damascus.
Jamil added that
the issue of the "Israeli occupation" of Palestine will be one of the main
talking points in discussions with the Syrian opposition.
The Syrian deputy prime minister for economic affairs has long been against any type of foreign intervention in the domestic affairs of the war-torn country.
Last year, Jamil said intervention in Syria was "impossible" because it would lead to a confrontation beyond the country's borders.
Speaking at a news conference in Moscow in December, Jabril appeared to be responding to President Barack Obama's threat that US forces could act if Syria deployed chemical weapons against rebels.
Jamil said the West was looking for an excuse for military intervention, likening the focus on Syria's chemical weapons with Western policy towards Iraq, invaded by US-led forces on the grounds it was concealing weapons of mass destruction.
