PA angry over Israeli leaks regarding Amman talks

Erekat says Israel, PA agreed that "exploratory" talks in Jordanian capital would be confidential.

The Palestinian Authority is angry over Israeli leaks regarding the recent Israeli-Palestinian peace talks in Jordan.
Chief PLO negotiator Saeb Erekat said Wednesday he filed a complaint with the Quartet members – the US, EU, UN and Russia – about leaks by the Israeli government regarding the Amman talks.
Erekat said that reports in the Israeli media about the meetings contained “half-truths.” The Israeli government was behind these leaks, he charged.
According to Erekat, who had met in Amman with Israeli envoy Yitzhak Molcho, both sides agreed that the content of the discussions would remain confidential.
“The Israeli government is determined to destroy any chance of resuming the peace process,” he said. “The leaks are intended for public relations.”
Erekat said that the Jordanians and the Quartet were disappointed by the Israeli government’s position during the “exploratory” Amman talks.
Erekat’s comments came in response to Israeli media reports that the positions on the issue of borders presented by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu did not significantly differ from those presented by then-foreign minister Tzipi Livni at the Annapolis Conference in 2007.
