Sources close to kidnapped soldier Gilad Schalit’s family denied a report in the Jerusalem weekly Zman Yerushalayim over the weekend that they were considering forming a political party ahead of the next election.The report said the family was upset that a rally held to mark the 1,700th day since Schalit’s abduction received little media attention and that they realized that the only way for them to achieve political power was to form a one-issue party headed by Gilad Schalit or to persuade thousands of people to register for the Likud in order to pressure Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu from inside the party.The newspaper stood by the report on Sunday.Meanwhile, a man suspected of recruiting donations for the Campaign to Free Gilad Schalit and funneling them to a private organization was arrested on Sunday afternoon, police announced. The man will be indicted in the Magistrates Court in Rishon Lezion on Monday.Melanie Lidman contributed to this report.
