Gov't set to vote on housing facility for infiltrators

Center will provide basic needs for those that enter country illegally but cannot be deported, including citizens of Sudan, Eritrea.

The government is set to vote Sunday on whether to establish a facility that will house over 10,000 infiltrators who enter Israel via the southern border with Egypt.
The center will provide housing and basic needs for the infiltrators but they will not be allowed to work.

The proposal comes a week after construction began on a border fence along the Egyptian border.
The Prime Minister's Office released a statement Wednesday saying that the facility is intended to house people who enter the country illegally but cannot be deported, including citizens of Sudan and Eritrea.
According to the plan the infiltrators will be provided with food, a bed and health care.
The Prison Service will be responsible for administering the facility, however the PMO said that the residents will be able to leave under certain restrictions.
"The center will make it possible to enforce the law against employing infiltrators without work permits," the Prime Minister's Office said.
