Less than a week after he allegedly hit two female joggers with his all-terrain vehicle before speeding off into the night, a 23-yearold man was brought for a remand extension on Wednesday, where police named him as the prime suspect in the hit and run.

During the hearing at the Rehovot Magistrate’s Court, the judge extended the remand of Yaniv Feirovskine of Moshav Ganei Yohanan, near Rehovot, by four days, saying that there is reasonable suspicion that he was involved in the crime and could try to hamper the investigation if released.

If indicted, Feirovskine could face charges of abandonment after causing grave bodily harm.

Feirovskine, who has no criminal record, reportedly admitted to police that he was riding his ATV in the area of Kibbutz Givat Brenner around the time of the accident, but denied that he was the one who hit the two runners. Police also reportedly have video surveillance footage taken from cameras at Kibbutz Givat Brenner that show Feirovskine riding his ATV on their property around the time of the accident.

A manhunt was launched shortly after the accident Friday night, which left two runners, including Olympic hopeful Radat Baltah, moderately and seriously wounded on a dirt path next to Kibbutz Givat Brenner’s fields.

Members of the 15- strong running team said that the ATV driver sped by them kicking up a large cloud of dust. They said that after they signaled him to slow down he turned around and drove back, slamming into both runners intentionally before driving off.
