An early release committee for the Israel Prison Service approved the early release of Anat Kamm, who leaked classified IDF documents to Haaretz, on Thursday. Kamm is set to be released in 10 days.
Kamm was convicted in 2011 in a plea bargain under which she pleaded guilty to gathering and storing more than 2,000 classified military documents during her mandatory army service.
The plea bargain dropped two far more severe charges of deliberately intending to harm state security, an offense that carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
Kamm was originally sentenced to serve 4.5 years.
At Kamm's sentencing, the judges said that she had “cynically exploited her position” during her army service as a clerk in the office of OC Central Command Maj.-Gen.
