Police to determine whether or not crime took place after reports that TV personality sexually harassed a series of women over the years.

Following reports that prominent TV personality Emmanuel Rosen sexually harassed a series of women over the years while he was employed at Channel 10 and other media outlets, Israel Police announced on Monday that it will open a probe to determine whether or not any crimes took place.Police stipulated that the probe is not a criminal investigation of Rosen, but rather an initial step to see if there is enough evidence to investigate him.The sexual harassment allegations came to light in a Haaretz report last week in which several women were anonymously quoted as saying that Rosen had an “obsessive” relationship with them, sending dozens of text messages late at night and constantly flirting with them. They also claimed that he invited individual women to late-night encounters with just the two of them, and would tell the women – most of them new to Israeli journalism – that he could help their careers.The report stated that the allegations against Rosen were a well-known secret to people across the media scene for years, including his employers at Channel 10. It also said that police were aware of the allegations for some time.Over the weekend, Channel 10 announced that Rosen had taken a leave of absence. The veteran TV personality has denied the allegations, calling them part of “an anonymous smear campaign” against him.
