Police prepare carefully-choreographed transfers of prisoners with IDF; prisoners will be brought to Ofer Prison near Ramallah.

Jerusalem prepared for the release of 11 prisoners to neighborhoods in the eastern part of the city in the first wave of prisoner releases from the Gilad Schalit deal.The terrorists will be brought to Ofer Prison, located between Ramallah and Givat Ze’ev, early on Tuesday morning. They will be processed and the east Jerusalem residents will be transferred to a Border Police station in east Jerusalem, where some of them will be reunited with their families.RELATED:High Court decides not to intervene in Schalit swap Gilad Schalit's release: The stage-by-stage timelineThe prisoners will then be escorted by police to the entrances of their neighborhoods or villages to ensure their safe passage into Arab parts of the city. All stages of the swap will be coordinated with the Prison Services and the IDF, in accordance with the carefully-choreographed prisoner swap deal that includes simultaneous releases based on Schalit’s movements.
Jerusalem police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said police were expecting celebrations in east Jerusalem neighborhoods following the return of the prisoners. He stressed police were ready for the release of terrorists into east Jerusalem.“Israel is strong enough to deal with [the release of the terrorists] and other scenarios in the future,” said national police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld.“Disregarding whatever terrorists are released, security forces are working on a day-to-day level,” he said.Click for full JPost coverage of Gilad Schalit
