Rocket shell found in Arava region; IDF probe finds that rocket appears to be Grad; no injuries or damages.

The IDF received a report Saturday morning that a rocket shell had been found in southern Israel, following reports overnight that an explosion had been heard in the area. No injuries or damages were reported in the incident.Following an initial examination, the IDF determined that the projectile appeared to be a 122 millimeter Grad-type rocket. IDF officials said they were further investigating the incident.According to Channel 10 News, it appeared as though the rocket was launched from Egypt.Egyptian daily Al-Masry Al Youm quoted an Egyptian security source as denying that the rocket was fired from Sinai. "These are simply false allegations by Israel aimed at destabilizing the security situation and affecting [Egypt's] electoral process."The IDF declined to comment on which direction the rocket was fired from.An IDF officer told Channel 10 that the IDF would continue to conduct security operations in order to prevent such attacks.In April, police sappers discovered remnants of a Grad rocket that was fired at Eilat. Eilat police chief Asst.-Cmdr. Ron Gertner said at the time, "based on our working assumption and the (rocket) range," the rocket was fired from Sinai.Yaakov Lappin contributed to this report
