The Ruderman Family Foundation announced this week the launch of a global
competition for innovation in the field of inclusion of people with disabilities
into society.
The competition is part of the 2013 Ruderman Prize in
Disability, which will provide $250,000 in funding to be divided between five
organizations in the Jewish community worldwide that offer innovative programs
and services aimed at advancing the integration of the disabled in
society.
“We believe this competition will generate new attention to the
issue and spur new ambitions, as we work toward our goal of the full inclusion
of people with disabilities in the Jewish community, so that these individuals
have the same employment, social, and religious opportunities as those without
disabilities,” the president of the foundation, Jay Ruderman, said in a
statement.
