Rabbi Moti Elon on Thursday responded for the first time to an indictment filed against him on Wednesday, denying charges that he exploited his position as a revered figure in carrying out indecent offenses against two minors.
"I never, heaven forfend, carried out any acts, with sexual intent toward any of my students," Elon stated at a press conference.
"Any foolish attempt to claim that I confessed to such an act is a loathsome and coarse lie," he added.
The indictment against Elon came after the rabbi turned down a plea bargain.
Following Elon's comments, the Justice Ministry spokesman said in a statement that the State Attorney's Office had not approached Elon's attorney or made contact with Elon in order to come to any agreement with him.
"The other things [Elon ] said will be addressed in court," said the Justice Ministry.
