While African refugees, given the status of asylum seekers in Israel, will tell you that they don't have a lot of rights, the one right they do have is freedom of press.
The first issue of the Refugee Voice, a newspaper focused on the African communities of Israel, was published and distributed at the end of March.
The newspaper was originally conceived by social work student Maya Fennig, to be the first newspaper available for Eritrean refugees in their native language Tigrinya.
However, the 20 volunteer staff members decided to also print the newspaper in three other languages, on the request of the African contributors.
