The eyewear market in Israel generates nearly NIS 1B annually and serves as a clear indicator for spotting global trends. Elinor Bor Ben-Zvi, Marketing Director at Luxottica Israel, explains that the company, which owns over 30 of the world's leading eyewear brands – including Ray-Ban, Oakley, Vogue Eyewear, Prada, Persol, Chanel, Tiffany, Burberry, Versace, Armani, Jimmy Choo, and others – continues to set the tone and dictate the trends that change from season to season. And this season, there is a lot to tell.

The world of eyewear continues to evolve at a rapid pace, with a focus on combining technology, comfort, and design. This year, smart lenses stand out, accompanying the wearer throughout the day – from clear lenses to photochromic lenses – allowing a natural transition between indoors and outdoors, day and night. The design sector has also taken a leap forward, with curved lenses and advanced materials providing a contemporary look alongside high functionality. It’s no longer just about vision – it’s about the entire experience.

The color palette this season ranges from depth to softness: Dark, rich tones alongside calm shades that create a sense of balance and tranquility. Particularly notable are colors inspired by nature and earth – browns, greens, and turquoise – along with touches of soft pinks and purples, and warm sunny shades in mustard tones. When it comes to shapes and styles, the standard gives way to the unexpected: Curved frames, decorated frames, and sculptural designs like exaggerated cat-eye looks. Glasses are evolving from a functional item to a definitive statement piece that completes and defines the look.

The first trend standing out this season is curved and drooping frames. These shapes are making a big comeback, inspired by the 1970s. These are rounded glasses with soft, gentle contours and a slight downward tilt – as if gravity has influenced them. They convey relaxed elegance and an effortless yet stylish look. Notable models include Prada, Moncler, Diesel, and others. These are the kind of glasses that look light but make a statement.

The second trend is what Luxottica calls the “jewelry box” – large, dynamic glasses with unusual proportions, decorations, crystals, and sparkling elements straight from the world of jewelry. These glasses are not just an accessory, but a true piece of jewelry, adding glamour and presence to the entire look. You can find this trend at Dolce & Gabbana, Tiffany, Jimmy Choo, Emporio Armani, Swarovski, and more. If you are looking for glasses that sit on your face like a work of art – this is the direction.

The third trend is the “aviator craze” – marking the return of the timeless icon this season. The aviator model, which has been on the rise in recent seasons, continues to shine thanks to its combination of retro heritage and modern versatility. These are gender-neutral and style-crossing models that convey effortless confidence and sophistication, suitable for daily looks. Brands include Ray-Ban, Versace, Michael Kors, Armani Exchange, and Oliver Peoples. Aviators aren’t going anywhere, and they work for almost everyone.

The fourth trend is “cat-eye and sculpted” – a glamorous, geometric trend of Cat Eye glasses in sculpted feline shapes. A bold combination of architectural lines, asymmetry, and 3D elements transforms the classic shape into a creative, dynamic accessory with strong presence. Models include Miu Miu, Giorgio Armani, Ferrari, Swarovski, Polo Ralph Lauren, and Jimmy Choo. This trend is for those who aren’t afraid to be self-aware and stand out.

The fifth trend is “rounded and intellectual” – timeless and classic glasses, mainly in optical collections, offering a modern interpretation of intellectual aesthetics. Rounded, flattering shapes that combine elegance and softness. The trend is reinforced with Havana colors, honey tones, and traditional metals, enhancing the retro style. Notable brands include Ray-Ban, Oliver Peoples, Miu Miu, Chanel, and Versace. These are the glasses that always look good, at any age and in any situation.

Beyond shapes, colors also play a central role this season. The “Midnight Darks” palette offers deep, dark shades inspired by the night: Black, deep blue, truffle, plum, and red wine, conveying depth, elegance, and quiet power. In contrast, the “Calming Tones” palette brings calm shades that provide a sense of balance and serenity: Beige, butter yellow, soft misty blue, and gentle purple. Textures range from matte and opaque to shiny and transparent – a story that invites slowing down and reconnecting.

Another trend is “Mineral Striation” – a connection to earth and nature: Soft, flowing shades inspired by stones and minerals, such as deep browns, delicate greens, and turquoise blue. These appear in diverse textures – from prints and stripes to solid colors. “Expressive Lenses” bring lenses in pink, purple, and blue tones that add emotion, self-expression, and individuality. Gradient, dual-gradient, and triple-gradient lenses provide depth and subtle light contrast, along with brighter and softer mirror lenses than before.

And the color you really need to know about? Mustard – the summer’s must-have. This trend highlights the rise of yellow-mustard shades, bringing warmth, energy, and presence. Not just butter yellow – but a wide spectrum of yellow and mustard shades leading the season. If you want to be on trend without trying too hard – mustard is the answer.
