Two minors were arrested during the night between Monday and Tuesday in connection with an arson incident in Antwerp in a suspected antisemitic act, a Belgian official told Reuters on Tuesday.

The emergent Islamist group Ashab al-Yamin claimed responsibility for the incident, publishing a video that appears to show three masked individuals setting a vehicle on fire.

In the video, the masked individuals appear to be pouring flammable liquid over the vehicle before setting it alight.

The vehicle was parked outside a Jewish-owned business in Antwerp, according to Ynet.

Owner of targeted vehicle is not Jewish

The arsonists believed the vehicle to belong to a haredi (ultra-Orthodox) individual, but the owner is not Jewish, Ynet reported.

In their claim of responsibility, Ashab al-Yamin wrote in Arabic, Hebrew, and English that Antwerp is one of the most "important European cities" and has a "large Zionist community, which has given it a special religious and cultural significance for some Jews, and it is sometimes called the 'Jerusalem of the North.'"

"Operations will continue to escalate and intensify until the liberation of the occupied lands in beloved Palestine and revenge for the blood of Palestinians, Lebanese, and all Muslims," the group's claim concluded.

This incident comes shortly after the group claimed responsibility for an arson attack on Jewish ambulances in Golders Green, London.
