Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen signed a landmark executive order on Friday to bolster protections against antisemitism at the state’s public schools.

The order deepens Nebraska’s prior adoption of the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism, creates greater transparency for reporting and monitoring of incidents, and makes educational content on antisemitism, the Holocaust, and Israel more accessible to students.

CAM commends Governor Pillen for his leadership and commitment to securing Jewish life in Nebraska.

After organizers of the upcoming Rome Pride Parade banned two Jewish groups for failing to “distance” themselves from the “ongoing genocide in Gaza,” CAM Executive Director of European Affairs Shannon Seban condemned the decision as “blatant antisemitism.”

“Jewish LGBTQ+ individuals have every right to participate without censorship or ideological loyalty tests,” she said. “The weaponization of Pride against Jews is unacceptable. Antisemitism has no place in the LGBTQ+ movement.”
