Exiled Gaza security chief and former Fatah official Mohammed Dahlan met with multiple senior officials in the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) and the defense sector in recent years to discuss solutions to the situation in Gaza, KAN News reported on Tuesday.
Dahlan, who has been exiled in Abu Dhabi since 2011 after Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas claimed that he had murdered Yasser Arafat, has still been described by one source to KAN as “the most powerful man in the Gaza Strip,” due to his fundraising abilities.
Dahlan was reported earlier on Tuesday to have met with Shin Bet chief David Zini during a visit to the United Arab Emirates, according to KAN News.
When approached for comment, the Shin Bet said, "We do not comment on the chief's schedule."
Mossad, Shin Bet chiefs visit UAE during Operation Roaring Lion
Earlier this month, the Wall Street Journal reported that Mossad chief David Barnea visited the UAE at least twice in March and April during Operation Roaring Lion to coordinate on the war.
KAN News also reported at the time that Zini had visited the UAE, and that the two countries were coordinating on security issues during the war.
