The IDF launched a wide range of airstrikes against targets in Tehran as part of Operation Roaring Lion, including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps headquarters, the military confirmed on Sunday.
The Israel Air Force also struck the IRGC's intelligence headquarters, the IRGC's air force headquarters, and its internal security headquarters, the military added.
One of the sites was used by IRGC terrorists to manage and carry out terror acts against Israel and other Middle Eastern countries. Another was used by Iranian intelligence to manage the military operations of the regime, the IDF stated.
IDF reportedly strikes Iran's state broadcaster, Iranian media claims
Meanwhile, the IRGC-affiliated Tasnim News Agency claimed that the IDF carried out strikes on the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) center in Tehran, pausing a news broadcast from Tehran's state broadcaster. The IDF has not confirmed this at the time of writing. IRIB was struck by the IDF in June as part of Operation Rising Lion.
Earlier on Sunday, the IDF confirmed that the IAF killed 40 senior Iranian commanders “within a minute” in the opening wave of Operation Roaring Lion on Saturday morning.
The military described these sweeping strikes as "a preemptive blow against what it called threats posed by Iran’s leadership."
