Russian missile attack on Ukraine's northern city of Sumy on Thursday killed two people and injured 26 more, the regional administration said on Friday.
An IDF statement Saturday night confirmed that the IDF and Shin Bet had conducted strikes in the area, saying that they had hit Islamic Jihad operatives and terrorist infrastructure.
Iranian media reports said Colonel Reza Zarei was killed along with two fighters from Lebanon's Iran-backed Hezbollah group.
The terrorist, identified as Yasser Hanoun, was on his way to commit a shooting attack.
The strike comes as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the IDF to begin preparations to enter Rafah.
The strikes come just days after alleged Israeli airstrikes targeted sites in Homs in central Syria.
Syrian air defenses shot down a number of missiles, state media said, without giving details on the targets hit.
As of Monday morning, the coalition had not issued a statement about the strikes.
The IDF targeted military headquarters, infrastructure, and outposts belonging to the terrorist group Hezbollah.
Kanaani said the US attacks were designed "to overshadow the Zionist regime's crimes in Gaza." He did not indicate if Iran would take any action in response.
