Molotov cocktail

The incident, in which six Molotov cocktails were thrown at a house in Oz Zion Wednesday night, injuring a man, sparked a harsh response by Otzma Yehudit leader Itamar Ben-Gvir.

None of the family members were injured in the string of incidents, but a bullet did lightly wound a police officer in his leg. The officer was taken for medical attention.

During the operation, Border Police fighters were deployed to ambush a number of suspects, who had been identified with the help of IDF observations as they were preparing to throw Molotov cocktails.

A Border Police officer saw the suspects carrying Molotov cocktails. She ordered them to stop and alerted other officers from the base.

The arrest comes amid rising tensions in Hebron.

The three have been indicted by a grand jury, each facing seven counts and up to life in prison if convicted of the offenses.

Joint List MK Ofer Cassif slammed the IDF when he took to social media to say that “the claims about a Molotov Cocktail, [which may exist] or not don’t matter a thing."

On Sunday, an IDF soldier was struck by a Molotov cocktail during clashes between Israeli security forces and Palestinians in Hebron, according to Palestinian reports.

The soldiers responded to the cocktails with fire and hit one of the suspects, identified as Badawi Masalmeh, who later died.

The operation took place after police noticed a high amount of incidents in recent months where residents of Shuafat threw Molotov cocktails at roadways, endangering drivers.
