Hundreds of thousands of people protested across Germany against the AfD after a report that two senior party members had discussed plans for mass deportation of citizens with foreign backgrounds.
FOREIGN AFFAIRS: “To be honest, Germany has six million reasons why we have to support a Jewish state. Full stop.”
At issue was Abbas’ comments made during a press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, in which he accused Israel of committing “50 Holocausts” since its war for independence in 1948.
The live broadcast will feature the candle lighting at the Western Wall where around 100 Holocaust survivors will participate.
