False alarm in South sends residents for cover

A false alarm of the "color red" early-warning rocket alert system sent many residents of the South scrambling toward bomb shelters and protected areas on Tuesday.

Preliminary reports confirmed that the alarm's sounding, which went off in Ashdod, Ashkelon, Beersheba, and Sderot, among other places, was not stimulated by rocket fire from Gaza into Israel.

An investigation into the incident was ongoing.
