Turkey and Iran are set to boost their economic ties following the signing of an interim deal between Tehran and world powers that led to the lifting of some sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic, Iranian Ambassador to Ankara Alireza Bikdeli said on Friday, according to Hurriyet Daily News.

“There are many areas between Turkey and Iran in which we can conduct trade. We have to revive those [areas],” Bikdeli said.

An Iranian delegation will arrive in Ankara in the near future to discuss trade issues. Turkish Trade Minister Zafer Caglayan will visit Tehran on January 15-16 to hold talks on the matter.

Bikdeli said the trade of precious metals, particularly gold, between the two countries will restart.
