The new program targets countries in which Holocaust denial is common in an attempt to spread awareness and acceptance.

The Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum at the site of the former German death camp in Poland has launched an online Holocaust awareness program in Arabic and Farsi.

The expanded educational program is directed toward countries in which Holocaust denial is commonplace.

“We want to address groups of people who often have little knowledge of this subject or who even advocate revisionist views,” AFP quoted museum spokesman Pawel Sawicki as saying on Monday.

“Statistically, there are hardly any visitors from Arab countries or from Iran,” museum director Andrzey Kacorzyk said. “But it is especially in those countries that the Holocaust is doubted or used as political capital.”

The multimedia campaign includes graphics, photos of the camp, and video interviews with survivors.

The website has been available in English and Polish since 2010. Programs in Arabic, Farsi, Spanish and Portuguese were added on Monday.
