VIENNA- The head of the UN atomic watchdog called on member states on Friday to help pay for an increased inspector workload in Iran as a result of its task to verify the implementation of a landmark nuclear deal with world powers.

Yukiya Amano, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said the agreement was an "important step forward towards achieving a comprehensive solution" to the decade-old Iran nuclear dispute.

But he told an extraordinary meeting of the IAEA's 35-nation governing board that "there is still a long way to go".
