Chef Yochanan Lambiase shows you how to make an easy, delicious tomato sauce that can be used for pasta or pizza. This quick sauce takes only 15 minutes - perfect for students or busy parents!
What you'll need:
- 10 tomatoes, quartered
- 1 jar of salsa
- Oregano, to taste (Chef Lambiase recommends 1-1.5 tsp)
- 8 whole cloves of garlic
- 1 tbsp brown sugar (FYI: The sugar cancels out the acidity of the tomatoes)
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- Pinch of salt and pepper
Step 1: One-pot wonder
Pour all the ingredients into a medium-sized saucepan. Give it a quick stir and cover.
Step 2: Now we wait
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let sit for 15 minutes.
***If you like your sauce rustic and chunky, stop here! If you'd like something a little smoother, continue on to the next step.
Step 3 (optional): Tomato goodness
Remove the pot from heat. Give the sauce a few pulses with a hand-held blender.
