NGO asks Nitzan to order IPS to improve hunger striker conditions

Adalah - Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights on Wednesday sent a letter to State Attorney Shai Nitzan demanding that he order the Israel Prison Services (IPS) to allow hunger striking Palestinian prisoners to have family visits and greater movement rights per day.

280 prisoners have been on strike for close to 50 days to protest the use of administrative detention, or indefinite detention with limited judicial proceedings, but no trial or standard rights, which Israel says it uses for certain security suspects.

The dispute centers around what rights the protesters should have while being held in special medical units where they are being force-fed.
