Cute animal video sharers and Candy Crush players breathed a sigh of relief.
Following a 30-minute Facebook outage Thursday morning, users were back online. The online social network gave no reason for the global outage, only displaying a message to users reading, “Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working to get this fixed as soon as we can.”
The outage was not solely restricted to the web – mobile users, too, reached an error page while trying to load the Facebook application.
This is the longest recorded downtime for the popular website since it was hit by a four-hour outage in October 2013.
Facebook, which boasts approximately 1.3 billion monthly users, was founded by Mark Zuckerberg, and has expanded rapidly since its 2004 launch.
It is one of the most visited websites on the Internet, only second to Google in the number of visits per day.
Some users reported “record levels of productivity” during the 30-minute outage.
With Facebook – the preferred outlet for complaining about such annoyances – down, many took to Twitter to complain about the website and share stories.
Dramatics swept the web as the hashtag #facebookdown shot to popularity.
“We resolved the issue quickly, and we are now back to 100 percent. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused,” said Facebook shortly after the site began working again.
