A stamp on the theme of “We’re from the Same Village," a song about fallen soldiers written by Naomi Shemer, has been issued by the Israel Postal Company’s Philatelic Services to mark Remembrance Day on Monday.
The NIS 1.70 stamp and envelope were designed by Osnat Eshel. Every year since 1952, a stamp to mark Remembrance Day has been issued by the Philatelic Services.
Each prime minister and defense minister has sent cards to the families of the fallen, along with the philatelic material, to express gratitude for their sacrifices.
Sasi Shilo, chairman of the company’s directorate, said Thursday that stamps are part of the Israeli experience.
“Such a stamp can be designed in a special way to signify the flowering and growth of the Jewish people together with the sadness and pain over those who are no longer with us.”
