Founder of French Jewish newspaper dies at 63

Serge Benattar founded the paper in 1981; circulation grew throughout France and the international Jewish community.

Juive newspaper founder Serge Benattar died last week at the age of 63. His news weekly is the main newspaper of the Jewish community in France, according to the EJP.
Benattar, trained originally as a mechanical technician, founded the paper in 1981. He oversaw the entire newspaper himself, from advertising and writing to distribution. It's circulation eventually grew throughout France and the international Jewish community.

President of the France-Israel Foundation Nicole Guedj said of Serge in a press release, "In the columns of his newspaper he always had at heart to defend the values ​​of respect and tolerance that were dear to him. Through his dedication, the Jewish community in France can be proud to have a media of quality, recognized by all."
