Elderly couple found dead in their apartment

Couple's son discovered bodies of his parents, who were both in their 80s, police discover handgun in his hands.

A man and his wife were found dead in their Netanya apartment on Thursday. The couple, both in their 80s, were found with gunshot wounds.

Police recovered a suicide note lying next to them saying that the couple had decided to put an end to their lives.

Sharon sub-district police suspect that the man, 84, shot his 80-year-old wife dead, before turning his gun on himself.

The couple were found by their son, who called paramedics to the scene. The couple were pronounced dead on the scene.

Police forensics officers found a handgun in the man's hand.

Police say the woman had been suffering from a terminal illness, and that the man's health had been failing as well.

Friends and neighbors gathered outside of their home after the shooting. They described their shock at the deaths, saying that the man and woman were friendly.

Neighbors noted that another had couple had committed suicide on the same street ten years ago.
