The singer Ilanit was born in 1947, in Tel Aviv. She has been a very popular singer in Israel since the 1970s. Ilanit has participated in many festivals in Israel and all around the world, in such places as Tokyo and Athens.

She was the first singer to ever represent Israel in the Eurovision contest, in Luxembourg in 1973, with the song “Ey Sham”. The song made it to fourth place. Ilanit was also the singer of the year in the annual hit parade for seven years in a row (1971-77)! This accomplishment has not been repeated since then by any other singer.
