She was passed over as the next Bond girl, but that hasn't stopped a former Miss Israel from landing a key role in a major American film franchise. Gal Gadot, Miss Israel 2004, has been officially cast opposite Vin Diesel in the fourth installment of the Fast and the Furious action series, Yediot Aharonot reported Friday. Filming will take place in the United States and Mexico starting in March, with the movie scheduled to open next year and following earlier installments that averaged more than $200 million at the worldwide box office. The face and body of Israel's Castro clothing line, Gadot had previously tried out to be one of the female leads in the next James Bond movie. But while those roles ultimately went to other actresses, the 22-year-old's audition proved sufficient to earn her an invitation to meet with Diesel. While the Fast and the Furious film will mark Gadot's Hollywood debut, it won't be her introduction to the series' core audience of young men. The brunette from Rosh Ha'ayin appeared last summer in a controversial Maxim magazine photo spread devoted to "Women of the Israel Defense Forces," posing in one shot in a bikini and heels with the Tel Aviv skyline in the background. Her new bosses in Hollywood appear familiar with the model's Israeli roots.
