Three Israelis are among the producers set to work with Sylvester Stallone on the latest sequels in the Rambo and Rocky series.
Israeli-born filmmakers Danny Dimbort, Avi Lerner and Boaz Davidson will serve as members of the production teams for the new Hollywood action films. The deal, which was first announced Monday in The Hollywood Reporter, follows the surprise success of Stallone's recent comeback efforts, 2006's Rocky Balboa and last month's Rambo.
The three Israelis, senior partners at Los Angeles production company Nu Image, worked with Stallone on January's new Rambo film, which earned generally favorable reviews and took in $18.2 million in its first weekend at the US box office. In announcing the new deal, the 61-year-old Stallone called his previous work with Lerner and Dimbort "nothing but a high point for me and my career," and described Lerner as "a real gentleman and man of his word."
Lerner and Dimbort collected lifetime achievement awards last May at the Eilat International Film Festival. Their upcoming production credits include My Mom's New Boyfriend, an action comedy starring Meg Ryan and Antonio Banderas, and Righteous Kill, a crime drama starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.
