Fingerstyle virtuoso guitarist Tommy Emmanuel is coming to Israel to perform some of his trademark jaw-dropping pickin' in Tel Aviv and Haifa. The two time Grammy winning Australian prodigy, a guitarists' guitarist if ever there was one, plays a variety of styles and has recently put out several albums with a more electric vibe, including 2003's The Journey. Emmanuel, who has also backed up megastars such as Tina Turner and Olivia Newton-John truly shines, however, when he goes acoustic and plays his wholesome, oft-humorous and always awe-inspiring folk-blues instrumental pieces. The uninitiated may recall Emmanuel from his performance at the closing ceremony of the 2004 Olympics in Sydney. Not to be missed. Emmanuel will perform at the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center on December 8 and at the Haifa Auditorium a day later.
