Hamshushalayim, a three-weekend-long festival, takes place in Jerusalem between November 26 and December 12. Its name comes from the Hebrew military slang word hamshush, which means a long weekend. The program features guided tours of the Old City of Jerusalem, as well as other neighborhoods, for a nominal fee or even free of charge. Also in the program are various concerts and theater shows, culinary festivals at the city's best restaurants, second hand cloths sales. Free entry to central museums at night, art fairs, night entertainment programs for youth and students, discounts at pubs, a conference of young communities at Bait Avi Hai center and many other treats are also on offer. For more details call (02) 531-4600 or visit The Hamshushalayim Web site.
