The Mashiv Haruah poetry quarterly, which publishes the works of established Israeli poets as well as newcomers hailing mainly from among the ranks of the Religious Zionist movement, will be holding its 13th annual Days of Love for Poetry conference in Jerusalem on November 19-22.
Beyond poetry readings, the festival features music from the likes of Micha Sheetrit and Ari Gorali, as well as panels on various subjects. In one of the discussions, journalist Hanoch Daum and poets Ruhama Weiss, Binyamin Shvili and Hava Pinhas Cohen will address the issue of writing as sin and tikkun (rectification).
Most of the events take place at various venues throughout Jerusalem, but on November 22 the festival heads south to pay tribute to the poetry of the periphery. The evening begins with a moving meeting of poets and musicians on the 6 p.m. train from Kiryat Gat to Beersheba.
