A 67-year-old pedestrian was mortally wounded in a hit-and-run car accident Tuesday morning, on Road 85 near Rameh, in the Western Galilee. The perpetrators walked away from the site on foot, leaving the vehicle behind. A preliminary investigation by the police found that the driver may have run into the victim in an attempt to evade a patrol car he had spotted in the area. An emergency response team which arrived at the scene pronounced the victim's death. Police erected checkpoints in the area and arrested one suspect, a 20-year-old resident of a village near Nazareth.
