Palestinian sources in Gaza reported one man was killed and two were seriously injured due to an explosion east of Gaza city on Saturday.

The injured were evacuated to Shifa Hospital in Gaza.

There were contradicting reports on the cause of the explosion.  Palestinian news agency Ma'an reported that a Hamas-affiliated website said an Israeli drone fired on the men, which it also identified as stone collectors. The website later changed its report saying the blast was caused by an unexploded ordnance.

IDF officials denied involvement in the attack and estimated that the blast was caused by an unsuccessful attempt to fire a rocket at Israel which backfired causing the injuries.
