Two assailants stabbed a man several times, seriously wounding him in Kiryat Ata near Haifa overnight Sunday.

According to police, the men entered the man's apartment on Asaf Zimhoni Street in the suburb and attacked him while he slept.

The men then left the apartment, but police apprehended them shortly thereafter in the vicinity of the crime. Police said that the motive for the crime was likely "romantic." They were continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident.

MDA paramedics treated the injured man on the scene before evacuating him to Rambam Medical Center.
