AMMAN - Syrian security forces shot dead two protesters in the eastern city of Deir al-Zor on Sunday after mourners angered by the killing of a 14-year old set fire to two Baath Party buildings, residents said.

They said doctors contacted at Noor hospital identified the the dead as 16-year-old Mohammad Rateb al-Sabah, and Khaled al-Jassem, 17.

The protesters, who numbered in the thousands, had earlier attended the funeral of a 14-year old youth killed during a pro-democracy demonstration on Friday.
