Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas will form a new cabinet within one week, Palestinian news agency Ma'an reported on Tuesday.

The previous PA government resigned in mid-February and Abbas had called for Hamas to participate in the next cabinet as part of Palestinian unification efforts between Fatah in the West Bank and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Ma'an said.

"Since Hamas did not respond positively, we cannot wait anymore," Abbas said of his decision to form a new cabinet, according to the report.

Hamas said it has not received any offer to join a PA cabinet, Ma'an reported.
