Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday held a meeting of Fatah's central committee to discuss the Quartet of Middle East mediators' proposal for resuming Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, the Ma'an news agency reported.

Ma'an quoted Fatah official Jamal Muhsein as saying a response to the initiative would be made on Thursday, following a meeting of the PLO's executive committee.

According to the report, efforts to lobby additional diplomatic support for the PA's United Nation's statehood bid and measures to implement the stalled reconciliation deal with Hamas were also discussed at the meeting.
