Advocate of FSU Jews nominated to chair Conference of Presidents

Stephen Greenberg was nominated to serve as the chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, the group announced on Thursday.
An attorney by profession, Greenberg is longtime advocate of Soviet Jewry and is currently Chairman of the National Coalition Supporting Eurasian Jewry as well as a founding partner of Stern & Greenberg and is Managing Partner of Pilgrim Mediation Group. He has held positions in the UJA, Hillel International and other Jewish communal groups.
“We were blessed with outstanding and talented candidates. The Committee looked at the current and future demands facing the American Jewish community and what qualities would be essential to lead the Conference. We were privileged to have had such high quality candidates, each a talented and devoted leader,” said Richard Stone, Chairman of the Nominating Committee and Conference of Presidents past Chairman.
If his nomination is confirmed, Greenberg will replace current chairman Robert G. Sugarman in June.
