Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch said Monday that Israel's fire and emergency services still lag behind those of other developed nations and may never meet their accepted norms.
Speaking in an Israel Radio interview, Aharonovitch stated that multiple changes have been made to improve fire and emergency services in the past year in the aftermath of the Carmel Fire.
A ceremony to mark the one-year anniversary of the disaster which claimed 44 lives was scheduled for Monday.
